The Challenge

When Turn 10 Studios launched the Forza Racing Championship, they needed they needed a broadcast facility for the monthly and weekly live broadcasts.

Our Solution

Atomic led a search for a location in the greater Seattle area for a custom-built broadcast studio. Due to the regular broadcast schedule, traditional studio space was not a option. We were able to find a building, and secured the space for the duration of the year-long project.

One requirement for the space was that we needed to be able to drive in a variety of cars for the live broadcasts. The studio had a roll-up door with street access that allowed us to drive the cars right into the studio. We hosted a variety of cars from Indy cars, Ferraris, Aston Martin, Ford GT, Porsches, McClarens and more.

The build out included a custom-built broadcast desk, lighting grid, and signal distribution, and production control room. Cameras, lighting, and audio equipment were installed and integrated, and thes studio was operational in about 6 weeks.

We utilized a Blackmagic workflow for cameras, switchers, and signal distribution. The custom-built broadcast desk integrated digital signage, as well as talent audio console. The audio system was designed to be flexible, utilizing a Dante network and Allen & Heath mixers and stage boxes.

Ultimately the studio was the home of and a key part of the success of the Forza Racing Championship, a global esports competition that was broadcast live on Twitch and Mixer. The studio was also used for the Forza Monthly show, where the Forza team would showcase new cars, tracks, and features of the game, as well as the Forza Special Olympics projects.
