Riftbound Regional Qualifiers (US)

UVS Games and Riot Games launched Riftbound, a new competitive trading card game (TCG), alongside a regional qualifier series to support organized play in the United States.

The Challenge

The Riftbound Regional Qualifiers serve as the primary competitive pathway for players to qualify for higher-tier Riftbound events. These multi-day tournaments require reliable broadcast coverage of feature matches while supporting a large, active competitive floor with hundreds of concurrent games.

Unlike a fully staged broadcast environment, the production needed to integrate cleanly into an existing tournament footprint without custom stage builds or a feature-stage video wall. The broadcast still required high-quality match capture, commentary, replay, and graphics, while also supporting dedicated viewing areas for spectators onsite.

In addition to broadcast production, the event demanded robust, reliable network infrastructure to support tournament operations, broadcast systems, and spectator viewing, all within a convention center environment with heavy network contention.

Our Solution

Atomic provided broadcast production for Riftbound feature matches, including cameras, lighting, audio, live switching, replay, and graphics integration, delivering a polished viewing experience without the need for a dedicated stage build.

To maximize gameplay coverage and minimize downtime caused by tournament pacing, we implemented a time-shifted replay workflow that allowed matches to be captured independently and presented back-to-back for broadcast, ensuring consistent, watchable gameplay throughout each round.

Atomic designed and managed the event network infrastructure, supporting broadcast systems, tournament operations, and on-site viewing areas. This included network planning, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a high-density convention environment.

We supported dedicated spectator viewing areas with clean program feeds, ensuring onsite audiences could follow key matches and tournament progress in real time.

Working closely with UVS Games, Riot Games, and event partner Redap Events, Atomic ensured seamless coordination between tournament operations, broadcast workflows, and network systems across all event locations.
